Scouting
Troop 306 is part of a large, world-wide movement called Scouting. Our Troop is part of a larger district, council, national and international Scouting network.

The Sons of Liberty District includes all the troops in Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Charlestown, Chelsea, East Boston, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Revere, Somerville, Waltham and Watertown. It is the primary sponsor of training opportunities for our adult leaders.

The Boston Minuteman Council includes the Sons of Liberty District and 2 others, serving Scouts in the Boston metropolitan area.  Here's a map of the towns in the Council.  The Council owns several camping facilities, including T.L. Storer Scout Camp in New Hampshire, where Troop 306 goes to summer camp.

The Boy Scouts of America or BSA is the national organization of Scouting in the U.S. (including Cub Scouts and Venturers). BSA operates several high-adventure camps, including Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and the Florida Sea Base.

In addition to Cub Scouts for boys from first through fifth grades, and Boy Scouts for boys 11-18, BSA also runs a program called Venturing, for boys and girls ages 14-21.

Although Scouting often seems quintessentially American, it is in fact a world movement which began in Britain. Visit the World Scouting website for more information.

In the United States, Girl Scouting is run by the Girl Scouts of the USA, a separate organization from the Boy Scouts of America. The local Girl Scout council is the Patriot's Trail Council.
