Membership
Troop 306 is an inclusive and welcoming troop, open to all boys between 11 to 18 years.  Our Scouts come from across Arlington as well as surrounding towns. They also participate in many activities in addition to Scouting. We have Scouts who are active in sports, music, drama, computers and many other activities. Troop 306 structures its program so Scouts can participate in Troop activities as well as enjoy other extracurricular activities.

Joining Troop 306
Troop 306 is open to all boys between the ages of 11 and 18 (or younger scouts who have earned their Arrow of Light). To join the Troop, a scout must complete application materials signed by a parent or guardian and pay registration fees. Upon entering the Troop, each scout receives a troop neckerchief, slide, and Boy Scout Handbook.

Troop Leadership
A Boy Scout troop is a program for boys that is led by boys. Each month, the Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leaders, and other scouts in the Patrol Leaders Council meet to plan troop activities. These meetings are conducted by the Senior Patrol Leader with the Scoutmaster and other adults present for guidance. Troop 306 strives to be a scout-run program, with adults present to ensure safety, maintain consistency with the Scout Oath and Law, and provide support and assistance when needed. The adults supporting the Troop 306 program have extensive experience and training in scouting, outdoor activities, and first aid and safety.

Adult Leadership
Troop 306's adult leadership team consists of experienced and trained volunteers, most of whom are also parents of Scouts in the Troop. Our adult leaders have as their first priority providing a safe scouting environment for our youth. They have extensive backgrounds and training in Scouting and outdoor activities.  Among our adult leaders are several former Eagle Scouts, former Boy Scout camp and high adventure base staff, and past and current faculty in a variety of Scout training courses.  Several of our leaders have been selected for leadership positions at the district, council and national levels of the BSA.  Troop 306's leaders have completed training that meets the BSA's standards for Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Trek Safely, Climb On Safely and Youth Protection.

Outside of Scouting, our adult leaders are professionals in a variety of fields, including computer sciences, government, law, education and business.  Most of our parents and leaders are registered as merit badge counselors too, and work with Scouts on career-related advancement.
