Troop 306 offers a fun program designed to promote character, fitness, teamwork, and citizenship for boys from 11 to 18 years old. Boy Scouting fosters boys' self-esteem, teaches cooperation, and develops leadership through challenging outdoor activities and opportunities for personal growth and community service. In addition, Troop 306 strives to instill values in young people that will prepare them to make ethical choices throughout their lives and will help them reach their full potential. The values we strive to instill are based on those found in the Scout Oath, Law, Motto and Slogan:
The Scout Oath:
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.
The Scout Law:
A Scout is TRUSTWORTHY
LOYAL
HELPFUL
FRIENDLY
COURTEOUS
KIND
OBEDIENT
CHEERFUL
THRIFTY
BRAVE
CLEAN
and REVERENT
The Scout Motto:
Be Prepared.
The Scout Slogan:
Do a good turn daily.
We also foster good citizenship at three levels: Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Citizenship in the World. See the News page for information on how Troop 306 contributed to our Community (helping clean up the Minuteman Bike Path, donating food to the Arlington Food Pantry), our Nation (raising over $1000 for Hurricane Katrina victims), and our World (raising over $200 for earthquake victims in Pakistan and India).
